“Classic” and “New-school” booking mix to make N.O.C. exciting

This year, Night Of Champions carried on its tradition of making every title in WWE the focal point of the evening. In an age where sometimes belts, particularly any that are not the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt, can become over-looked, under-played and ignored as central to feuds and story-lines, this was return to classic wrestling booking.

Looking more closely at some of the title bouts from September 20th’s Pay-Per-View event, one can see a re-emergence of classic themes being employed in the booking.

Lack of heel/face consistency hurting the WWE Divas division?

The most recent episode of Monday Night Raw witnessed the latest installment of the current saga playing out in the women’s division of WWE superstars. Divas Champion Nikki Bella and her sister Brie (accompanied by their new ally Alicia Fox) went to battle with former number one contender Naomi and her bosom chum Tamina.

The match itself was good, but the booking coupled with the reaction from the crowd high-lighted an issue that has been prevalent in WWE for the last year: the designation of heels and faces among the female roster is inconsistent and often times confusing.

Is too much reverse booking hurting WWE’s credibility?

Money In The Bank is happening this Sunday. The playing field is set and the players have been chosen. But how exactly were they chosen? Put that question to any observer or analyst and they will have their own opinions, put it to any fan and they will have theirs, but that is all they will have – opinions.

The fact of the matter is that WWE has selected the line-up of superstars with no apparent rhyme or reason. This whole situation reeks of reverse booking, and it insults the intelligence of the dedicated observer.
