Worst… Raw… ever?

The Monday Night Raw which aired 24 hours after Survivor Series, which is already being hailed as the worst pay-per-view offering of the year, received its lowest ratings since WWF was on the losing end of the Monday Night Wars.

Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer reports that with 3.19 million viewers during its first hour, 2.99 million in its second, and 2.71 million in its final hour, November 24th was the first time Raw has averaged less than 3 million viewers since 1997.

Women’s division center stage on NXT

Women’s wrestling once again reigned supreme¬†at Full Sail University, with three single’s matches featured on Wednesday’s NXT television program.

Fan-favourite veteran Carmella challenged the juggernaut Nia Jax. Emma continued putting over her new conceded, heelish ways in a match against development talent. To close the show, Bayley defended her NXT Women’s Championship against number one contender, Alexa Bliss, but was then met with a new challenge.

Nikki Bella out with neck injury!

Former WWE Divas Champion and Pro Wrestling Illustrated #1-ranked female wrestler of 2015 is currently taking time off to rehabilitate an injury.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Quarter-Finals

The go-home episode of Monday Night Raw featured four awesome matches between some of the Fed’s finest to determine who would compete for the vacated world heavyweight title at Survivor Series.

While the tournament’s first round was punctuated by predictable action and surprise finishes, the superstars really stepped up the level of competition this week. Each match delivered in its own way, elevating everyone involved.

In the end, however, only four men survived.

Dash and Dawson new champions!

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder defeated The Vaudevillains this past Wednesday to become new NXT Tag Team Champions.

The match was described by ringside announcers as “a dissection”, and it is difficult to disagree. Dawson and Wilder displayed the same grit, aggression and technical ruthlessness they have made their trademark as of late.

Billy Gunn fired!

Former Smoking Gunn and New Age Outlaw Monty Kip Sopp, aka Billy Gunn, has been released from his contract with WWE after testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone.

Sopp was a part-time member of WWE’s roster since his return from TNA and the independent circuits in 2012, and also worked on as a trainer.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, Sopp failed a wellness test at a powerlifting competition on July 25th and subsequently was banned from further competition for four years. WWE was apparently unaware of Sopp’s powerlifting endeavours, and released him upon learning of his suspension from the sport.

Meltzer reports that Sopp’s drug test showed a 37-1 testosterone/epitestosterone ratio, far above the allowable 4-1 ratio.

WWE Championship Tournament 1st Round (Part One)

With WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s #1 of 2015’s Top 500 Wrestlers Seth Rollins out of commission, Monday Night Raw kicked off the journey toward a new face of the company.

Triple H opened the show with an homage to a great champion, and the audience in Manchester, England responded with great appreciation for what many consider was a modern heel too good to jeer.

PWI’s Top 50 Females revealed

Pro Wrestling Illustrated published its annual Female 50 edition, and has released its official list of the top 50 Female Wrestlers of 2015.

The list, began in 2008, ranks active pro wrestlers based on a criteria¬†that includes win-loss record, championships won, quality of competition, major feuds, prominence within a wrestler’s individual promotion(s), and overall wrestling ability.

Crews screwed as Joe turns heel!

NXT brought a big fight feel to Wednesday night as number one contender Apollo Crews challenged Finn Balor for the NXT Championship.

After a solid match, the competitors were taking things home when out of nowhere came Baron Corbin, who took out Crews before turning his fury on the champ.

The crowd popped as Samoa Joe came down to make the save, and Corbin scarpered. A rude surprise however, as Joe turned on Balor. After delivering a series of punches and kicks and a gut-buster, Joe draped the championship belt across Balor’s chest and walked off to chants of “Why, Joe, why?”

Seth Rollins injured! Title vacated!

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has torn his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus during a live event in Dublin, Ireland. He is expected to miss six to nine months of action.

The news was broken by ESPN’s Jonathon Coachman Wednesday night, and was officially confirmed by WWE.com the following morning.

Once the depth and seriousness of the injury was known, WWE immediately vacated the World Heavyweight Championship and announced that a tournament would be held November 22nd at Survivor Series to crown a new champion.
