Brock Lesnar continues to blur reality

At the 2015 edition of the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view special, Sunday October 25th, Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker faced off in the main event. It was built up as the final showdown between the two powerhouses, the culmination of their latest feud which began at WrestleMania XXX.

The match was a brutal and bloody brawl professionally pulled off by two masters of manipulating reality and make-believe. Like any well-constructed professional wrestling match, the audience was left wondering how much of the action was scripted and improvised, what was planned and off the cuff, what was a work and what was a shoot.

Brock Lesnar has made this blurring of lines separating kayfabe and reality part of his drawing power. It has become one of the biggest reasons he is so interesting to watch, besides of course his awesome physical ability and seamless psychology.

However, having the story publicized as widely as it was has thrown a wrench in the gears of the story-line in which Lana and Rusev’s characters are currently involved. Raw Visits the Windy City

Everytime the Big Fed comes to the city of Chicago, they face a challenge: how to entertain one of the most die-hard sports entertainment audiences in America.

Like New York/New Jersey and St. Louis, Chicago has developed a reputation over the years of being a town that will either love you or hate you, shower you with praise or eat you alive. It is a town where, if you carry a big-time reputation like the WWE, you better bring your very best.

Unfortunately, despite some solid action from some of the company’s best superstars, the crowd was largely unimpressed.

Let’s take a bit of a closer look at Monday Night Raw, live from The Windy City.

Iron Women: WWE elevates themselves with classy showing at NXT Takeover

“Respect” was the theme of the evening, and The Big Fed’s success at driving it home was largely due to a world-class showing from Woman’s Champion Bayley and challenging former champ Sasha Banks.

The two competitors met in a thirty-minute iron woman match, an attraction never before featured in WWE. More importantly, the match was featured in the card’s main event. For the first time since its humble beginnings, the world’s leader in sports entertainment featured women in their head-line attraction.

It was an important night, and it felt like everyone, from the roster wrestling on the card to the announce team to the fans at Full Sail University, understood that importance. NXT Takeover: Respect was not just another live event pushed to boost network ratings or sell tickets, it was a chance to make history.

The theme of respect was not relegated to the main event, though. It permeated nearly every contest.
